Wedding Feature: Megan + Nick
We were so honored to play at Megan + Nick’s stunning wedding reception at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea. It featured stunning ocean and mountain views, luscious lawns and florals, and an overal feeling of airiness and ease. We are excited to share Megan & Nick’s journey as a couple: how they met and how they managed to create an incredible final result filled with joy and love.
Tell us the story of how you two met.
Born and raised near Boston, Massachusetts, Nickolas moved to the Midwest with his family in 2007 and settled in Iowa. Initially, Nick and I met in high school through mutual friends; however, our lives and social circles had little overlap at the time. In 2013, Nick moved to Germany and I moved to New York City, and we had forgotten about one another (or so I had thought). By 2014 I had returned back to Iowa State University to finish school and to my surprise, Nick was there, sitting in the library and our eyes just gravitated towards one another. We still talk about that day and how vivid that brief little memory lives on.
What made you decide that this was the right person to be with for the rest of your life?
Megan: It was when I looked back at the most trying times we had experienced together and how we handled them that I knew Nick and I were meant to be.
Nick: Megan and I are in consonance almost 100% of the time. When we are not, we have the communication, compassion, and respect to surmount any difficulty.
What do you enjoy most about each other’s company?
After six years of each other’s daily company, Nick and I are usually always in-sync. Our shared hobbies—cooking, fitness, reading, traveling—keep our relationship interesting and our bond close. Nick and I always find something new to talk about and we keep each other laughing after all this time together.
How was your experience with Island Kings Band?
Excellent. Nick and I were set on having a live band and I remember how excited we were to discover Island Kings Band online. Our October wedding was the first event Island Kings Band ever played at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea and the long-distance coordination was effortless.
What was your favorite song you danced to at your wedding?
Our first dance song—With You by Vance Joy—was by-far our favorite and most special song of the night.
Share one special memory from your wedding with us.
By 9 PM, our guests started to gather their things and head back to their rooms. With about an hour of playtime remaining, that left Nick and I and our immediate families alone with the band for a private performance. It was the most magical way to end the evening.
Do you have any advice for couples as they plan for their wedding?
Find out what is most important to you and your significant other for your wedding. How do you want your guests to feel and what do you want to remember about your day for years to come? Music has such a powerful ability to bring back strong emotions that we knew it was worth the investment.
